PEEWEES CAPTURE GOLD AT SILVER!
The Barrie Colts Peewee 'A' team sponsored by Image Dental Labs entered the Bob Merkley Regional Silverstick in Midland this past weekend.In the extremely competitive three game round robin, the Colts advanced to the semi-finals after facing some ferocious teams in their division: Woolwich Wildcats (3-2 win), South Muskoka bears (5-1 Win) and Port Perry Predators (0-0 tie). In the semi-finals, they faced their long standing rivals, Owen Sound Jr. Attack and won with a 7-5 victory.
In the championship game, the Colts once again faced the Port Perry Predators. The Predators who were down by two goals well into the third period, pounced back to tie the game at 2-2 in the last few minutes of regulation time, forcing the game into a 10 minute overtime. The game winning goal from Connor Torrie, came 5 minutes into overtime. The victorious Colts now advance to the International Silverstick finals on Jan. 19, 2017 in Port Huron, Michigan. Both goalies, James Tower and Blake White, had their work cut out for them in this extremely challenging tournament and rose outstandingly to the occasion!
The team roster includes Blake White, James Tower, Caleb Wallis, Brett Busby, Nick Francoeur, William Howard, Grace Semmens, Tanner Kowalski, Hutton Burgess, Aiden Pethick, Connor Torrie, Franco Protopapas, Jack Rowsell, Reza Khonsari, Regan Carpenter, Owen Pacitto and Jonah Sands. The coaching staff includes head coach Tom Pethick, assistant coach Jason Semmens, trainer Brendan Huston and manager Brian Torrie.
