International Silver Stick Champions!
The FurnaceDepot.ca Minor Peewee A Barrie Colts are International Silver Stick Champions!
Through the round robin portion of the tournament in Newmarket, the Colts posted a 2-2 record, beating TNT 4-1 and Woolwich 4-2 and losing to Don Mills 4-3 and Owen Sound 3-2.
That left the team in second place in their division and facing the first place Cambridge Hawks in the semi-final game. In the semi's the boys played a solid game and defeated Cambridge by a score of 3-1, which set up a rematch with Don Mills in the championship game.
In the Finals, the Colts dominated every aspect of the game and took a 1-0 lead through one period. At the end of the second it was 2-0, and the Colts continued their relentless pressure, hard work and smart hockey to finish off the game with a 4-0 victory to take home the Silver Stick!
As part of winning the International Silver Stick the team name will now be a part of a display at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto!
