Canadian Blood Services - Donors Needed
Submitted By Steve Fontaine on Friday, March 20, 2020
During these uncertain times, one thing remains constant, and that is the need for blood.

We have recently experienced a spike in cancellations of individual and group appointments. As offices and businesses are shutting their doors, and people are practicing social distancing, Canadian Blood Services is asking donors who are healthy and eligible to come and donate blood at their local donor centre.

Be assured, blood donor centres are a place of wellness, and we have taken precautions to ensure the safety of donors. We have implemented an active wellness checkpoint at the entrance of our centres, and we have increased our travel restrictions at this time to ensure the safety of those coming inside.  Current evidence indicates COVID-19 is not transmitted by blood or blood products and patients undergoing surgery and cancer treatment, accident victims, and people with blood disorders rely on blood transfusions every day.

Although your workplaces may be closed at the moment,  please spread the word to your colleagues/networks and share on social media to encourage people to book an individual appointment at this time. By booking an appointment as opposed to walking in, we can better ensure that we will have 50 or less people in the facility at all times.

For more information and updates please visit: where there are answers to common questions we are getting from donors, as it relates to donating during COVID19.
