Season Update #3
Hello from the BMHA office,

Thank you for continuing to visit us for the latest updates. Our staff are now back in the office full-time and in addition to Steve Fontaine (General Manager), Niki Grant (Office Administrator) and Rebecca Bye (Ice Scheduler), BMHA is excited to announce that we have a new student, Quinten Murphy, working in the office.

While Quinton settles into the office, the rest of the BMHA staff continue planning for the 2021/2022 hockey season. This includes transferring participants new to the Barrie area. If you have a child that has moved to within the Barrie boundary from another association you will need to transfer your participant. The type of transfer required depends on where your participant played previously. Please visit the OMHA website or reach out to our office for guidance and for the correct transfer form. Please note, the transfer process can take some time as it requires very specific documents and needs to be approved by our governing bodies. Please apply to be transferred as soon as you are able to avoid missing out on registering as some of our programs do fill up.
At this time it is our hope to open registration in late July. We have not determined the exact date registration will commence as it is dependent on when the OHF, Hockey Canada and the OMHA supply our association with their return to play protocol. We would like to give BMHA families the opportunity to know what our programming will look like before asking participants to register. Please know, we are actively seeking clarification on things with our health units as well as our governing bodies and we will continue to pass that information along to our members as we get it.

Here is what we know right now:

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) has stated there will be NO on-ice training/activities before September 7/2021

After September 7, Barrie Zone AAA try-outs can begin-if you wish to try out for AAA, please note, they are a separate organization in Barrie and you will need to register with them for your tryout (BMHA tryouts are a separate registration)

Once the AAA tryout for an age group has completed, tryouts with BMHA for AA, A, AE and MD teams can begin, dates will be available once registration opens

The OMHA has announced that tournaments can commence as of October 8/2021 (as long as travel within different health units is permitted)

Hockey Canada 3.0 has officially launched and minor hockey associations across the country are continuing to train and upgrade to utilize this new platform

We are still in need of sponsors for the upcoming season. If you or someone you know would like more info on how you can support minor hockey while utilizing our social media and website please reach out to the BMHA Director of Sponsorship Robin Hillman by email at:  [email protected]

Apollo Insurance
APOLLO is so simple to sign up with online as compared to going in to an insurance brokers office. Policies are comprehensive and very well priced. I had questions and got my answers within minutes through their chat window and at one point I still didn't understand something and a representative actually called me and we were able to clarify within minutes. I highly recommend APOLLO!!
