Minor Atom AE Food Drive
Submitted By jrobertson on Wednesday, December 17, 2014
The Minor Atom AE team has been busy collecting food.
The Barrie Colts Minor Atom AE team, sponsored by the Market Buffet and Grill, participated in the Coach4Food campaign, spearheaded by the OHL and the Barrie Food Bank. Team members organized food donation drop-offs at a Barrie Beer Store and at an Ontario Provincial Police building. The team also set up donation bins at home game between 28 November and 03 December and received support from family and friends enjoying the games. The Colts also received great support from a visiting Atom team, the Collingwood Hawks, who donated foods items to their Barrie opponents campaign.
Players went door to door for several hours and filled countless bags of food in support of the Barrie Food Bank.
The players, parents and team staff worked hard to support the Barrie Food Bank and the Coach4Food campaign and on 15 December 2014 weighed in at the Barrie Food Bank with an impressive 4628 pounds.
The team also donated $130 from their operating budget to the Barrie Food Bank.
During the weigh-in, Peter Sundborg, Executive Director of the Barrie Food Bank, addressed the team and remarked on how well dressed and professional they looked. As always, the Barrie Colts Minor Atom AE team represented the Barrie Minor Hockey Association extremely well and conducted themselves like the great little citizens they are.
All players and supporters of the Barrie Colts Minor Atom AE team should be congratulated for their efforts and community involvement during this campaign. We, as well as our association should all be very proud.
