Silver in Ottawa!!
The TNR Doors Barrie Colts Minor Bantam AA team faced some tough competition at the 6th Annual Capital Gold Rush Tournament in Ottawa, where they learned a great deal about winning and losing as a team.

In a hard fought opening game against the Ottawa Upper Valley Aces, the Colts managed to hold on to a 1 goal win before playing a more decisive game against the Cumberland Jr. Grads, winning 6-0.

Knowing that Barrie held the seeding tie-breaker with a better GFA differential, their opponent in game 3, the Gloucester Rangers, pulled all the stops, and their goalie, in the dying seconds of a tied game. An unlucky deflection off a shin-pad in front of the Barrie net led to a 4-3 loss and a semi-final re-match against the Upper Valley Aces.

Barrie came out strong in the semi-final game, despite a 9:30 p.m. start and bulged the twine three times early to take a commanding lead. A penalty filled game ended in a 5-3 victory for your Barrie Colts and a berth in the championship game against the Gloucester Rangers once again.

Tied late in the game, it seemed as if an overtime finish was likely, however, a goal late in the third by the Rangers proved to be the tournament winner. The team's success with a silver place finish can be accredited to hard work, steady defence and solid goal tending throughout the tournament that allowed only 11 goals against in 5 games.

Congratulations to the players on their success and good luck as you continue in the regular season!
