Triple 20 Finalists Add Silver to Trophy Shelf!!
Congratulations to the TNR Doors Barrie Colts Minor Bantam AA team, following another successful tournament weekend! The boys were thrilled to test their skills, stamina and mental toughness at the prestigious London Triple 20 Shootout Tournament, where they experienced NHL length action with three 20 minute periods and floods in every game!

The team opened the weekend with two wins on Friday vs the Flamborough Dundas Reps (3-2) and the Kitchener Jr. Rangers (6-4). Saturday morning’s game pitted them against the highest ranked team in the province, the Streetsville Tigers, who pulled away late with a couple empty net goals to defeat the Colts 5-2.

Disappointed with the morning's result, the boys returned to the rink Saturday afternoon determined to win in a match-up with the hometown favourite, the skilled London Jr. Knights ‘White’. A determined Colts squad played some of their best hockey of the tournament, recording a decisive 7-1 score to lock up a berth in the semi-final on Sunday morning.

The team faced the Vaughan Panthers in the semis and prevailed in a hard fought game, where a late goal from the Colts forced overtime after 60 minutes of play. An early overtime goal sealed the victory and set-up a rematch with the Streetsville Tigers for the Championship game.

The 6th game of the weekend would test both squads, as the 20 minute format equated to what would be 9 regular season games over the 3 days. A 60 minute battle with exceptional goal tending from both sides, ended in a 4-2 loss for the Colts, a 2nd place finish overall and another silver medal for the trophy case!

The Colts team and coaching staff, congratulate the Streetsville Tigers on their victory! What an excellent weekend of hockey for both organizations, in what was the very last Triple 20 Tournament.

Go Colts Go!

P.S. We learnt this tournament that you should never ask a hockey dad to take the team picture. Always ask a hockey mom, as they take multiple shots and make sure everyone is paying attention! Haha
