The Barrie Minor Hockey Bantam AA team sponsored by Dominion Lending - Darick Battaglia completed a successful weekend as the Champions at the Vaughan Rangers Early Bird Tournament.
On Saturday night the Darick.ca Dominion Lending Bantam AA team qualified into the wildcard position enabling them to play in the semi final on Sunday morning. Their first game on Sunday morning was against the Ottawa Sting. The Ottawa Sting has a history of being a high ranking team in Ontario. The boys were charged and ready to go. It was a fast paced game and the team rose to the challenge with a 4-1 win.

The final game was against the Mississauga Jets. These two teams have had a long standing rivalry. Last year at the first Early Bird tournament the two teams competed for the championship and Barrie succeeded with a 1-0 win.
Darick.ca Dominion Lending and Mississauga Jets played each other at 2:45 Sunday afternoon. The scoring opened in the first period with Barrie putting the puck in the net at 7:06 . By the end of the first period Mississauga Jets had tied the game. The Barrie team was tenacious and never gave up. Barrie's 2nd goal occurred in the 2nd period at 5:17. The pressure was on and Barrie continued to play hard. Goal 3 entered the net at 14:21 of the 3rd period. A solid team effort resulted in Barrie sustaining their 3-1 lead to win the game as well as the Championship.
The victory over the Mississauga Jets concluded a successful weekend of great hockey!
