Colts Win Sudbury Silver Stick Tournament
The Institute for Sports Performance Minor Midget AA Barrie Colts travelled to Sudbury this past weekend to complete in the Silver Stick Tournament.
Although the Colts struggled to find their scoring touch early in the tournament, solid team defense and goaltending resulted in two 1-1 ties vs. both Vaughan Rangers and Sudbury Wolves.
The Colts started to find the back of the net in a must win game vs. division rival Stouffville Clippers, winning the game 3-0. A quarter-final 3-2 win vs. Humberview Huskies set-up a semi-final rematch with the hometown Sudbury Wolves.
The Colts started quickly and jumped out to a 3-0 lead however the Sudbury Wolves battled back to make it 3-2 before the Colts iced the win with an empty netter.
In their sixth and final game of the Silver Stick, the Colts faced the undefeated Toronto Aeros. The Colts played a penalty free game and skated to a 5-0 win bringing home the Silver Stick and second tournament championship of the season.
