Peewee AE Blue - Bring Home Silver in the York Simcoe Finals
What an Awesome Season for PeeWee AE Blue
After finishing tied for 4th over all at the end of the season, the boys were off to the OMHAs....what an accomplishment in itself for a first year team....
First round of the OMHAs, we were able to battle hard, and get past Newmarket in 3 games.
Next was the Quarters against Aurora, a team we went 1-1 with during the season....after 5 nail biting games, Aurora moved onto the Semi's and the boys moved to the York Simcoes
This time a RR with TNT and Markham....we had a bit of break between the rounds, so we needed to get playing again....after 2 games with each of these teams, the boys finished first, and moved onto the Simcoe Finals --with butterflies in their stomachs..and huge smiles on their faces...the boys were "ALL IN" for the final round....with great inspiration and guidance from a terrific coaching staff, and supportive parents...they were ready to go....
Game 1 in Stouffville went to OT, with Stouffville taking it 3-2...Game 2, back in Barrie, the boys pulled out a 2-1 victory...both of these games, Stouffville had to put in a player as a goalie, as both their goalies were either sick or still on vacation (March Break)....Game 3, due to the ice storm was canceled, so Game 4 was in Barrie, with again a 3-2 loss for Barrie Blue...down 2 games, the boys knew they had to give 110% to get it done....with a player of ours skating on borrowed skates, ( from the Stouffville Team). Barrie Blue was up 1-0 up to the last few minutes of the 3rd period, where Stouffville tied it up....going into OT again....a few minutes into OT, Stouffville scored....Huge Thanks to the Coaches and Parents of Stouffville for their true sportsmanship....could not have asked for a better team to play in the final...
I have been involved in minor hockey for almost 10 years now, and to walk into the dressing room after this loss, you would have never known these boys just lost a final game....they were laughing and loving the silver medal around their necks...clanging their celebratory Root Beer, and enjoying their Skittles....Huge Thank You to Thomas St Germain...who filled water bottles, and opened doors the entire season....To all the parents for their support and help throughout the season..Ice Helpers, Pierre, Greg, and Rob...Head Coach Eric, Assistant Coach Jamie, Trainers Richard and Shawn..and a special shout out to my wife Melanie..who helped out in so many ways behind the scenes to help me with managing this team....and of course to each of the 17 boys who dedicated their time to having fun, listening and learning from Game 1 to 63..and all the practices....Being "ALL IN" certainly paid off...so many memories from this season......Go Blue Go...
