Monteith Oldfield Minor Bantam Blue brings home the Nations Cup!
When national pride is on the line Canada's teams prevailed over strong competition from the U.S.!
The Minor Bantam Blue team represented not only Barrie, but Canada in the Nations Cup held in Detroit over the U.S. Thanksgiving weekend. The Monteith Oldfield Colts hit the ice proudly wearing the maple leaf on their jerseys and competing against US teams. The tournament started with round robin play in which Barrie Blue added 6 points to Canada’s overall standings giving Canada the win. The win meant all Canadian teams were the home teams and were given a 2 minute power play to start their final games. At the end of the finals (all 6 teams playing a game) the Canadian teams had won 4 of the 6 games to win the Nations Cup! Great work by both the players and coaches! Hockey truly is our game!
