Two Tournaments - Two Finals
The Cubeit Minor Bantam AE Blue team played two back-to-back tournaments.
Our first tournament was the Bradford Blue and Gold. With a 3-1-1 record in round robin, the Colts earned their way to the championship game against division rivals TNT. After tying TNT in round robin play, this set-up a evenly matched final. After two goals for each team in regulation, it would take a 4 on 4 overtime goal by TNT to win 3-2.
Our second tournament was the Collingwood Silverstick Regionals. Entering as a minor team versus minor/major mixed teams from across the region, it was an uphill battle to start. After losing our first game 1-4 against the Dorchester Dragons, the Colts never lost hope. They battled back to win their next game 2-0, against the Collingwood Blackhawks. After tying the Oro Thunder 1-1, Barrie earned a semi-final game against the undefeated Penetang Flames. Proving size does not compare to heart and determination, the Colts won the game 2-1. This set-up a winner-takes-all rematch against the Dorchester Dragons. The fired-up Colts fiercely battled the Dragons for three solid periods in the finals, but in the end the Dragons won the game 1-0.
We would like to wish the Dragons good luck in the Silverstick Tournament Of Champions, they earned it! The coaching staff would also like to thank the dedicated parents and families on this team that made for two great weekends.
