The Novice Select Colts Play in Pro Oil Change Tournament
The Novice Select team was on the ice again this past weekend when they played host to the Pro Oil Change Select Tournament held in Barrie.  It was a packed schedule that would see Barrie open the tournament with a 4-0 win vs the Acton Chargers in the first of two games on Friday.   In The second game of the day Barrie would have little trouble getting past the St. Thomas Stars winning 12-0 to finish opening day with 2 wins………

On day 2 the Colts would keep on rolling and won the first game of the day vs. the Oshawa Falcons 7-3. Then it was a hard fought 4-1 win over the Guelph Jr. Gryphons.  After day 2 it was the Colts unbeaten through 4 holding a ticket into the Sunday morning Semi-Final.

The semi final would be a rematch of the opening Game of the tournament vs. The Acton Chargers and the result would be exactly the same, Barrie 4 Acton 0.

On Sunday afternoon the stage was set at East Bayfield  Community Centre.  Barrie Colts and Garden City would battle for the Pro Oil Challenge Championship in what would be a very exciting game.  Barrie would waste little time as Chase Marshall with help from Arjun Uppal and Wesley Blewett would net the first tally of the game 1 min and 12 sec in.  It would stay that way until a flurry of scoring in the closing minutes of the opening frame.  With just over 2 min remaining Arjun Uppal would score with help from Chase Marshall and Keaton Lormand.  With just less than 2 min remaining Stephen Smith would make it 3-0 Colts on a feed from Liam Young, but this game was far from over. 43 seconds later it would be Josh LeGresley with the set up for Garden City's Ethan Dulas.  After 1 it was 3-1 Colts.

The second period was action packed but the score would remain 3-1 with the Colts out in front.

The third period began with some tense moments for the Colts fans in attendance. Garden City came out hard and with 13:44 remaining Josh LeGresley would score with help from Lee Palmquist. Garden City would strike again shortly thereafter when Abbott Lilly would bring his team even.  It was short lived however as Wesley Blewett would set up Arjun Uppal with the Go ahead goal.  D'Arcy Mueggee would net an insurance marker for the colts with 4:33 remaining in the 3rd with help from Oban Forrest and Tristan Hyder. That would be enough for Barrie to become champions for a second time this season. Final score 5-3.

The Barrie Colts Novice Select team will travel to Stouffville this weekend to compete in the Year Ender Bender.
