Congratulations to the Cube-It Minor PeeWee AE Barrie Colts on an unforgettable season!! We couldn’t have wrote this year any better if we tried!
In the first half of the season, the boys were successful in their tournament run, finishing as finalists in the Justin Williams Tournament, and Champions in both the Oshawa Cup Tournament and the Barrie Canadian Tire Classic Tournament.
They wrapped up their 28 game regular season in January, with an undefeated record of 27-0-1, finishing first overall in the York Simcoe Minor Hockey League. They were ranked as the top ‘AE’ team in Ontario all season on myhockeyrankings.com, scoring 194 goals for with only 38 goals against.
After tying Aurora twice in the preliminaries, the boys settled into their playoff run sweeping the TNT Tornados in the quarter-finals, the Northumberland Nighthawks in the semi-finals and the Oakville Rangers in the finals. They finished their playoff run with a record of 11-0-2, remaining undefeated and becoming OMHA Champions!! #redhats
This phenomenal group of 17 boys gave us everything they had, all season long! They showed up to the rink every practice, ready and eager to learn. They bonded from day 1 and became a group of brothers, supporting each other both on and off the ice! The expectations were high for this team and they did not disappoint. In their 62 game season, they had a combined total of 361 goals for and only 94 goals against!
Thank you to our incredible coaching staff – Head Coach Kevin Thompson, Assistant Coach Kyle Thomas, Trainer Mateo Thompson and Goaltending Coach Vince Michelizzi! As non-parent coaches, the time and effort you all put forth is to be commended! The confidence and knowledge you instilled in these boys, will last a lifetime.
Thank you to our amazing group of parents! We couldn’t have done this without all of your support throughout the entire season! Between practices, games, development sessions, film nights, team bonding events (X-Play, Christmas potluck, snow tubing), we were on the go all the time and you embraced all of it!
And last but not least, thank you to everyone behind the scenes – from BMHA to OMHA – for all of your hard work in helping make our season run so smoothly! We appreciate everything you do!
