Colts 'sweep' first round series.
The Barrie Colts Midget AA team swept their first round OMHA series over the weekend against the Richmondhill Stars.

The Colts and Stars battled hard all season which saw the Stars take the season series 3 games to 1 in close games all year.  But the playoffs are a new season and the Colts took full advantage of that over the weekend.

The Colts travelled to Richmondhill Saturday evening for game 1 of the series.  The Colts scored first when Ethan Pegg found the back of the net from the point, giving the Colts a 1-0 lead.  Owen Kellachan then took over and stole the show as he made highlight reel save after save, completely shutting the door on the Stars.

Special teams also became a factor as the Colts had to kill off a long 5 on 3 and a 5 minute major during the second period.

Late in the 3rd, Adam Lewis picked the top corner giving the Colts a 2-0 lead and some breathing room for Kellachan in the pipes.

The Stars pulled the goalie for the late push but Patrick Galloway threw the monkey off his back as he netted the 3 goal for the Colts into the empty net and sealed the game 1 win for the Colts.

On Sunday, the teams met at the Holy Rec Center for game two and a chance for Barrie to take the series.

The Colts scored first when Adam Lewis netted his second in two games, banging in a loose puck in front of the Stars goalie.

The Colts would score 4 more times during the game, with Hayden Bruining, Caleb Booth, Patrick Galloway and Grady Burke all finding a way to light the lamp.

Michael Brassor was stellar in net making some huge saves as Richmondhill battled to stay alive in the series.

The highlight of the night goes to Patrick Galloway as he made a statement on an awarded penalty shot, scoring an absolute beauty in front of teammates who were stuck watching this one from the stands !!

Was a great series for the Colts who put up 8 goals in two games while only giving up 1 goal against.

The Colts will have to wait for the winner of the round robin playoff series before they know their second round opponent.

Great Job Colts !!
