Colts Win Silver at Early Bird Tournament
Submitted By Sabrina Westbrooke on Monday, September 9, 2019
The Scotiabank Barrie AA Bantam Colts opened their season at the Garden City Early Bird tournament in St Catharines this past weekend.

In game 1 the Colts picked up the win against a tough Glancaster team. Reece Thompson sealed the 4-2 W with an empty net goal, his third of the game.

Game 2 saw a late rally fall short as the Colts fell 5-4 to the Oakville Rangers Blue team.

Saturday the Colts bounced back with a convincing 5-1 win over West Niagara.

Next up was a must win against the Burlington Cougars. Barrie came out flying and put up a convincing 6-0 win. 6 different goal scorers found the back of the net and Jack Giroux picked up the shutout. The win secured a birth in the final against the undefeated Brantford 99ers.

Barrie battled hard in the Sunday morning contest but fell short in a tough 3-2 loss, picking up a sliver medal in their first action this year.

The Colts open their regular season Thursday Sept 12th in Newmarket.
