U13 RS Makes Mountainous Drop At Toy Mountain
On Friday, December 16th, players, coaches, parents and siblings from the U13 RS Team left school and work a little bit early so they could make their donations on the final drop-off day of CTV Barrie's Toy Mountain!
The toys came from a Secret Santa gift exchange where the players and bench staff drew names and had to buy a gift for their recipient to donate to Toy Mountain. The gift swap took place Tuesday night after practice at Allandale Rec Centre in preparation for Friday's toy drop. Parents joined in, and we all had some great laughs as players and coaches unwrapped their toys and shared why they had bought each gift for their respective recipient.
A few days later, the team met in the parking lot at the CTV building on Beacon Road in Barrie to drop off the toys. Players, coaches, siblings and parents headed in with jerseys on, toys in hand, and big smiles on their faces as they made their donation. They even got to be on the 6 o'clock news!
The team bench staff and parents are so proud of how our players embraced the opportunity to give back to fellow kid's in their community, and to help make their Christmas morning's just a little bit brighter. We hope these players continue to learn the importance of helping out in their community; not only at holiday time, but all year-round.
