Here Come The Barrie Colts!!!
Congratulations to the Mom's Restaurant Atom AA Colts for their impressive start to the season, winning the Vaughan Rangers Early Bird Tournament Championship. Right from the first puck drop, the team was turning heads and earning compliments from spectators and other team officials for their outstanding team play so early in the season. The coaches were actually asked if this team had left the ice since the spring.
After round robin play, Barrie sat at the top of the heap in their division and came out swinging with a fast and gritty performance, beating North Toronto 3-0 in the semi-final. Just when the coaches thought they had seen what could have been some of the best hockey the kids had ever played, the team put together a lights out performance against the highly ranked Streetsville Tigers. In a fast paced, exciting nail biter, Barrie held off a two minute six man attack, winning the championship 2-1.
Overall, the weekend turned out to be an amazing bonding experience for the players and parents alike. The players came away with new friends, new confidence, some hardware, and most importantly, lots of smiles.
