Well they’ve done it again……

Since the 22nd of September, the Minor Bantam A has battled hard and won 3 out of 3 tournaments.  This teams regular season record and tournament wins speaks volumes to each players tenacity.

The first tournament win was in September, south of the border in Cleveland Ohio.  The boys taught their American counter parts skill and determination. The championship made the long drive home a little easier for everyone.

Their second team championship came only one month later in our nation’s capital, Ottawa. The competition was significantly tougher, however the Colts battled throughout the round robin to defeat the host team (North Cumberland JR Grads) for the championship.

Finally, on November 24th, the Colts participated as the host team in the Canadian Tire Classic Tournament. The boys played hard to protect Barrie’s name and secure their own house by going undefeated in the 4 game round robin.

The Colts beat the Welland Tigers 3-1 in the semi-finals to compete for Gold. After a short rest, the Colts laced up to take on Ontario’s 2nd placed team, the Ancaster Avalanche. This action-packed game went 3 long periods only to have the colts defeat Ancaster 4-3.

The players took great pride in beating this team to prove that hockey rankings are simply statistically generated estimates to rate a team’s likelihood to compete.  It is now clear the only true way to determine a championship team, is to go head to head!!
