General Information (Barrie Minor Hockey)

PrintGeneral Information
General Information:
The OMHA has mandated that at least one parent or guardian of each player registered in the OMHA will be required to complete the online Respect in Sport (RIS) Parent Education Program as a condition of their child's participation for the 2021/2022 season. Please complete this course immediately, if you have not already. This is a separate course from Respect in Sport Activity Leader for rostered staff members.

Springwater Residents:
In consultation with the city of Barrie we sought clarification pertaining to the participation of Springwater residents in our programing. There is an agreement between the township of Springwater and the city of Barrie to waive the non-resident fee for RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS ONLY, this does not apply to organized sports. If you are registering your child to play within the BMHA there is a $35 fee per participant that must be paid upon registration.

2021-22 Season Information:
The BMHA is looking forward to beginning registration for the 2021-22 hockey season. Unfortunately the COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult to plan for the upcoming season with uncertainty relating to ice allotments and how restrictions will affect team numbers. The BMHA is working hard to make the 2021-22 season as successful as possible and we are planning to open registration by late July to early August.  Until then keep checking the BMHA website as we will be posting weekly announcements to keep you informed of any important updates for the 2021-22 season.

When registration does open, it will be made available on the Hockey Canada registration portal

To prepare for when registration opens please go to Hockey Canada sign up page to create a new login and password. Hockey Canada is using a new registration portal this season so previous season login credentials will no longer be valid.

Tutorials on how to use the new Hockey Canada registration portal are available HERE

If your player is selected for a BMHA Rep Team, you must sign a letter of commitment to that team. You will then be required to pay the remaining fee as set out in our registration. As an example if your child is in the U11 age group and you paid a $500 house league registration fee you will be required to pay the remaining $1100 for a total of $1600.  In light of the timelines this season the remaining payment will be required within 7 days of your last tryout in order for us to be able to roster your child to their team.

House League:
House League registration will open by late July to early August. A payment toward your registration fee and payment plan must be made prior to soon to be provided date in order to qualify for the early bird registration.  Regular registration fees will apply after TBD Early Bird Registration Date. Registration to House League is a first come first serve basis, so register sooner than later before divisions fill. If you are a returning House League player, you will use your Hockey Canada password and email address to login and complete the registration.
The 2021 - 2022 House League division descriptions will be posted shortly.

House League Select:
House League Rostered Select will have tryouts in the fall.
If you reside outside the Barrie boundaries for rep but you have been a BMHA registered player for the previous 2 seasons, you are eligible to try out for the House League Select program.  This is an OMHA ruling.
