Barrie Referees Wanted
Are you interested in becoming a referee? There is no better time to sign up then this upcoming season! In little over a day of training, you can be on the ice officiating the game you love! 

Below are the minimum requirements to become an Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) referee: 

  • Must be 14 years of age or older as of December 31, 2022
  • Those 18 years of age and older must submit an acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Completion of the online Hockey University 1/2 course 
  • Completion of the online Respect in Sports – Officials Course 
  • Completion of an in-person OMHA entry level clinic including Hockey Canada exam


In addition to the above, new Barrie officials will be expected to attend mandatory meetings and on-ice training sessions to assist with their overall development.

Note – Entry level clinics are typically posted from August through to November.
