Georgina Silverstick Regional Champions
The Larway Transportation Atom AE team rolled through this past weekend in Georgina winning the Regional Silverstick Championship and earning the opportunity to compete in the International Finals in Pelham, Ontario. The team was perfect through the tournament going 3-0 in the round robin. Sunday's semi-final saw a group of determined boys. Their business-like approach, preparation and focus was unmatched as they faced off against a strong Whitby Wildcats team. Twenty six seconds into the game, before many of our fans were in their seats, the Colts were already up 2-0. They never looked back, skating to a convincing 5-1 win. The team met up with the undefeated Northumberland Nighthawks in the finals and once again came out of the gate quickly, riding that to a 5-1 win.
This was an extremely impressive performance by this group. Strong goaltending, a powerful, speedy offense and a mobile, stingy defense that can stand up to any team. Game preparation, proper nutrition, fitness, discipline, class... there are not enough words to describe this team.
A big thank-you to all our parents who showed tremendous team spirit during the finals. The arena was electric and the boys felt it.
These boys work extremely hard every practice, they have bought into every aspect of this team and it has paid off this season.
