Kenworth Bantam House League win Tournament
Submitted By Jill Robertson on Monday, March 21, 2016
Barrie Kenworth  Black Team 6 Bantam's finished the BMHA regular house league season with an exciting back and forth game, with Team Black losing in overtime to Barrie Green.

Good attendance from family and friends made for a loud and exciting finish.  The drama and intensity didn't end there, as Black Team 6 entered the Orillia tournament held at the Rotary Place West Orillia Sports Complex during the March Break. Down 2 players(missing F Daniel Stein and G Zac Selkirk) shortened the bench and required team play to win.

Game 1 vs. Orillia Joe Trophies  F Cam Hyder lead the team with 2 goals, Adam Di Pietro, Cole Yake and Daniel Wabiszczewicz finished the scoring while Liam Skelly earned the shut out in the 5-0 win.

Game 2 vs. Alliston TNT Tornadoes was a close game, with rushes going both directions ending with a 2-1 win for Barrie Team Black. Trevor Easton and line mate Cam Hyder scored the goals, while Trevor added an assist on the winning goal.

With the win in Game 2 Barrie Team Black finished the preliminaries in a tie for 1st place and pushed back to 3rd based on plus/minus goal ratio, putting Team Black in a must win scenario on Fri.Mar.18th.16 to move on...

Game 3 vs. Ayr Blue Flames ended in a 5-1 win for Barrie Team Black, with goals from Adam DiPietro, Trevor Easton , Cole Yake, and goals from defenseman Joseph Zadow and Matt Barr.

Game 4 vs. Whitby Flyers was the most entertaining, exciting and "nail biting" back and forth game! Late in the 3rd period, with only .21 seconds left Curtis Duguay flipped up the game winner over the goalie with all forwards rushing the net.  An incredible ending that moved us on to the finals.

Game 5 vs. Collingwood Red ended in a 6-3 win and the championship for Barrie Black Team No. 6. Coach Grant Easton heard Collingwood was undefeated, passed well and played great positional hockey which meant Team Black had to come out fast and move the puck quickly.

Cole Yake  scored his 3rd goal in an open net, to ease the surging Red Team. (2) goals from Trevor Easton and (1) from Cam Hyder.

It was a complete team effort that allowed team black to win the overall title and bring the Trophy home.    The players that contributed to these wins but not noted in the above include: F Justin Myers, F Logan Van Nispen, D Tucker Guathier, D Will Smith and D Jordan Taylor.

It was a great season with a great finish!  On behalf of the coaching staff: Congratulations to the players, parents and volunteers that supported us over the year.
