Submitted By PHarris on Monday, December 5, 2016
The Barrie Tyke Gold Hornets won the Barrie Cheer Like Never Before competition at this weened's Rogers Hometown Hockey!

Their cheer video posted online received enough votes to allow them to perform their cheer live on stage in front of a panel of judges including the Mayor of Barrie Jeff Lehman, and former NHLer Shayne Corson. In the end, the Hornets beat out 4 other finalists from across Barrie and were declared the winners!

The team will now go up against 23 other teams from across Canada, where the entire country will vote for their favourite team online. The grand prize winner will receive an "Ultimate NHL Experience" which will include a NHL Playoff Viewing Party hosted by a surprise NHL Alumni, a surprise equipment package, an on-ice experience hosted by a special guest, and a photo op and meet and greet with an alumni or current NHL player.

National voting opens in April, so remember to vote! http://www.hometownhockey.com/contest/
