Novice Select Bring Home Chedoke Winter Classic Gold
The Novice Select team was busy over the Christmas Holidays when they attended the Chedoke Winter Classic Tournament in Hamilton.   The first game was on the morning of December 28th against the Mount Hamilton Blues. Barrie would strike first with 6:17 remaining in the first period when........

......... Oban Forrest buried a Feed from line mate Tristan Hyder. Before the end of the opening frame Liam Young would score on a great pass from Hunter Scruton. The Second period would see much of the same as the Colts would score 2 more from Darcy Muegge and then Martin Fisher, both unassisted. Three more goals would be scored in the third period and they would all belong to the Colts as Tristan Hyder, Darcy Muegge and Martin Fisher would light the lamp.  Assists would go to Grant Tumble and Oban Forrest. The Colts would go on to win the opening game 7-0.

Barrie would face the Brantford 99ers in the afternoon match-up and both teams would put their season unbeaten records on the line. The first period was a close one as both teams traded chances but it wold be the colts once again who would strike first as Darcy Muegge scored with 2 min remaining in the period.  In the second period with the score 1-0 it would be Muegge once again who would get the tally unassisted to go ahead 2-0.  From there on in it would be all Colts as Grant Trumble would make it 3-0 before the end of the second on a rebound from a Gavin Dumas shot from the point.  In the third Oban Forrest, Tristan Hyder and Wesley Blewett all added a goal each. Colts win 6-0 and retain their unbeaten record.

The morning of Day 2 would see Barrie finish off Division play against the host team Chedoke Express.  It would be the Oban Forrest, Tristan Hyder, Darcy Muegge Line that would score 2 early in the first at 6:15 and 5:55.  At 4:58 of the first there would be more of the same as Liam Young would score with help from Arjun Uppal and Steven Smith.  Young would strike again unassisted with 3:59 remaining in opening frame.  In the second period the dangerous Colts offense would continue to roll as Arjun Uppal would score just 41 seconds in on a pass from Grant Trumble.  At 7:13 it would be Oban Forrest adding another and then 2 more from Tristan Hyder to complete the Hat Trick. Final score 8-0.

Barrie would meet the Brantford 99ers again in the Semi-Finals in the second game of Day 2 and this one would start out to be a tight match-up. But, once again the Colts offense would blow it wide open with 3 goals late in the first period, first by Tristan Hyder unassisted and then Arjun Uppal would score 2 to finish off the period.  The second period would see some great action but there would be nothing to add to the score sheet.  The third period would once again see Oban Forrest score on a feed from Tristan Hyder and Again Unassisted.  Darcy Muegge would also add another with a helper from Nicholas McAuley.  That would be all of the Colts scoring but with time ticking down in the third period the 99ers would tally one to end a spectacular almost 4 game shut out streak by Colts goaltender Dayson Bress. Also noteworthy was the strong defensive play of Grayden Gauthier which earned him the Player of the Game award. Colts earned a 6-1 win and an invitation to Friday’s Final.

The Coronation Bengals would be the team that would stand between the Colts and the Gold medal.  The first period started off with some great back and forth action and it would be the Bengals that would strike first with 5:21 remaining in the first period.  But that lead would only stand for a little over 2 minutes as Martin Fisher would tap home a feed from Tristan Hyder.  Then it would be all Colts, 53 seconds later it would be Darcy Muegge from Martin Fisher. With 1:08 left in the first it was Hunter Scruton from Nicholas McAuley.  The second would see goals from Steven Smith, Tristan Hyder with 2, Hunter Scruton, Arjun Uppal from Chase Marshall, Wesley Blewett, Keaton Lormand and again Martin Fisher.  There would be no scoring from any side in the third period and the Colts would win the Championship game decisively by a score of 11-1.
