My name
is Josh MacIntosh, and I am the U12B Barrie Colts Head Coach for the 2025-2026
season. This letter is to inform everyone about what to expect during the
upcoming tryouts.
Players
will be evaluated by myself as well as third party evaluators. Players should
be reminded that they are being evaluated both on and off the ice as well as
many other factors I will be looking at during these try outs.
1.
Individual
skills – skating, shooting, puck control
2.
Team
skills – making smart plays, passing
3.
Work
ethic – what does the player do if they fall or make a mistake during a drill?
Do they give up? How do they treat other players? Can they follow instruction?

Please
arrive at least 30 minutes prior to each try out to sign in and receive your pinny.
The BMHA
is very fortunate to have a large pool of talented players to choose from. With
that being said, there are only 17 spots available, 15 players and 2 goalies.
*Please
note, the BMHA has implemented a new try out process this season. All players
registered for tryouts will be emailed a unique player ID # with a link to the team tryout webpage. After every tryout, it is the
players responsibility to go on the team tryout page to locate their ID #. If your ID # is not on
the page, this will mean the player has been redirected. If your player ID # is
on the page, this will mean that you have been invited back to the next try
out.
What
to expect this season:
Being
part of a representative team is a big commitment both financially and time. BMHA
rep teams are on the ice 3-5 times a week. They will compete within the York
Simcoe Minor Hockey League loop and will travel for road games. Our team will
be participating in 4 tournaments this season.
Those
selected for the team will be required to pay the standard rep registration fee. BMHA
registration fees cover team games and practice ice times as well as practice
and game jerseys and socks.
Dress
code for rostered players:
All
players will be expected to arrive at the rink adhering to the BMHA Dress
Code. For U12 this consists of wearing:
- BMHA wind suit – pants and
the jacket to every practice with running shoes (no crocs or slides
permitted)
- All players are required to
wear dress shirt, tie, and dress pants to all games
- The cost of the items above
are in addition to the registration fees and parent buy in. More
details will be made available once the players have been rostered to the
team.
I look
forward to seeing everyone on the ice.

MacIntosh – Head Coach
