Silver Medal finish at St. Catherine's Early Bird Tournament
Submitted By Niki Grant on Wednesday, September 20, 2017
The Minor Atom A Furnace Depot Barrie Colts team participated in the Garden City Early Bird Tournament.

The Minor Atom A Furnace Depot Barrie Colts team participated in the Garden City Early Bird Tournament in St.Catharine's this past weekend. The team won 3 of 4 games in the round robin to advance to the semi-final round. After being down 3-0 in the semi-finals against a very strong team from Welland, the team rallied for a huge 5-4 win. The win advanced the team to the championship and set up a rematch with Woolwich who beat the Colts in the round robin.  Both teams came out skating very hard. The game was very evenly matched but in the end, the Colts fell 4-2 with an empty net goal and came away with a silver medal. Hard work, determination and team work made for an excellent first tournament for this young team! The coaching staff is looking forward to a great remainder of the season.
