42nd Pepsi Tournament Peewee Champions

The Peewee Select team arrived in Buffalo ready to play but you could feel the nervousness as they stepped out on the ice for the National Anthems.  They faced the flags and their first opponents the Syracuse Nats that had a player that towered over the boys.  It was a tough game and the score was tied until 1:16 left in the 3rd when #12 for the Colts fired it in for the 3-2 victory.  Game 2 was an early morning start vs. RMU from Pennsylvania.   In the third period the Colts scored three unanswered goals for the 7-2 win.  Next up that afternoon was the Waterdown Wolves from New York.  The Colts were up for the challenge, the game was tight, intense and with another great third period the Colts won 4-2.  The boys anxiously awaited to see who the would face in the semis and it was the Waterdown Wolves.  The wolves scored first but the Colts came back to tie it up.  The Colts killed off two 5 on 3 penalties.   Colts goalie stood strong and held his ground throughout the second and into the third.  With five minutes left to go in the third the Colts offence put the puck in the back of the net and did it again with a 1:30 left to go to win 3-1.  They headed into the finals against the Syracuse Nats.  It was a crazy intense first with many phenomenal saves and then the Colts got a power play goal.  At the end of two intense periods they had one period to go.  With an outstanding shot that hit the crossbar from the centre the winger #9 was there for the rebound to get the insurance goal.  The Colts played short handed for the last two minutes and won the 42nd Pepsi Invitational with a 2-0 victory.  The boys were ecstatic and the coaching staff beyond proud of the team for their teamwork, passing, positivity and never give up attitude! Congratulations Peewee Colts Select Team.
