And they rally for the win!
I guess the boys need a little excitement in order to "turn up their game" - phew! Despite the 9:30am game this week most of the boys took the whole of the first period to find their skating legs. After that though it was game-on! There was some great passing today and several outstanding individual efforts.
Honourable mentions today go out to:
-
Alex, who was really strong on the puck and showed some great hustle; and
-
Owen, who had a very solid positional game with some great backchecking efforts.
Our player of the game today was
Tyler A. Tyler played a really heads-up game, using his bounce pass and head-man pass on many occasions. I really enjoyed watching Tyler and Alex today and how they were working together to score
5 goals between the two of them!
We spent a bit of extra time at practice this week learning about and working on our inside and outside edges.
Remember - you need a
solid inside edge to do a good crossover and tight turn! This, and many of the other skating drills we do at practice, can be done anytime the boys are on the ice.
The City of Barrie has numerous public skates, which you can find by going to
the schedule here.
Looking forward to next week already!
