HYDRATION EXPERIMENT
FROM OUR TRAINER - JOE FRALICK
Hydration experiment from Sept 2015

To stress the importance of proper hydration pre, during & post game and it's effect on performance.

From Joe Fralick:
I've complied the results of our test at this evenings practice and here are the results for the parents that are interested. I weighed players before and after practice. I weighed one water bottle full of water without a lid and the full bottle weighed just under one pound. I'm not passing on any of the player weights, only a even or a minus (-) calculation. It's normal to loose 1 pound while sweating during sports. If two pounds have been lost or more then the player needs to ensure they are consuming enough water throughout our games because they could be sweating excessively or performing at very high levels for their system. I will be encouraging our son to have a sip after every shift. Not too much, just a sip. As a point of interest, the kids will play two games on Friday in Markham and at the end of the second game without sufficient hydration your player may loose an average of 4 - 8 pounds depending on their performance and ability to stay hydrated. It's just food for thought. If you would like your child to have a sports drink in their bottle at the games just send them with one and I'll ensure that it makes it into their water bottle. Water is still very important though so in the past I've diluted sports drinks in Owen's bottle to help him replace both water and electrolytes. If you want your child to have a diluted sports drink I can take care of that too.I'll apologize ahead of time if I've spelled any of the names wrong.
