U11, AA (Barrie Minor Hockey)

No upcoming games scheduled.

Hello U11 Hockey Players and Families.

My name is Greg Kimber, Head Coach of the 2025-2026 U11AA Barrie Colts. I’m incredibly excited and privileged to be stepping into the role of coaching this team in the new era of minor hockey.

Now, as we embark on this new era, it is important that the hockey community understands the BMHA player evaluation process and procedures that we will be following. You can find the document at:

https://barrieminorhockey.net/Pages/2966/Player_Evaluation_Process_and_Procedures/

As it is the first year of the “open borders” era, it’s fair to highlight a couple points from that document for the 2025-2026 Season: 1) U11AA Out of Town Player Acceptance Limits is four (4). 2) No player can join an evaluation after the first evaluation of that level has begun. Again, please read through this document. It will answer the majority of questions .

Some quick information about me. I was born and raised in Orangeville (area), where I played my minor hockey, prior to moving away for college. In the early 2000’s after graduating college, I moved to Barrie and started my electrical apprenticeship. Through the years I came to my current position as a project manager, with the same company I started my apprenticeship.

What you can expect from me as the Head Coach:
1) Passion.
2) Teamwork.
3) Commitment.
4) Accountability.
I expect dedication from everyone involved, including myself, to work hard and strive for our personal best and our team’s best.

Evaluation Process:
1) Skates 1 & 2. Drills ran by a third-party hockey school provider.
2) Skates 3 & 4. Scrimmages/Exhibition Games amongst U11AA registrants, which will include referees.

Season Plan:
1) It is my intention to book four tournaments for the upcoming season. Two tournaments will be local, including the Barrie AA tournament. Two tournaments will require overnight stays. At this time, I will not be considering US tournaments.
2) Outside resources for additional development will be incorporated into our schedule and budget.
3) Bench Staff & Management. Once tryouts are complete, I’ll be reaching out to the selected group for interested parents. The roles of manager, assistant coaches & trainer are valued and essential components of our group’s success. It requires a lot of time and effort and I want to thank those in advance for putting themselves out there, stepping up and dedicating their time. To ensure the right fit, I will be meeting with each candidate face to face prior to selection.
4) An email will be sent after final commitments and registrations introducing the team. Team meeting will take place after the selection of the bench staff and manager.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the email below.

Finally, I wish all registrants the best in this year’s evaluation. Remember to work hard, complete the drills, stay focused & COMPETE!
