Dear Parents and Players,

Welcome to the tryouts for the Barrie Colts U15 “AA” team for the 2025–2026 season. Below you will find important information regarding the tryout process, our objectives, and expectations for the upcoming year.


Pre‑Tryout Preparation
If you have not already done so, please review the articles posted on the BMHA website concerning the tryout procedures and Association expectations.


Tryout Details

  • Roster Composition: 17 players total (9 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders).
  • Selection Criteria: We seek self‑motivated, team‑oriented athletes who embrace challenges, maintain a positive attitude, and demonstrate a strong work ethic. Every participant will receive equal consideration throughout the evaluation process.
  • Format: Multiple ice sessions will include both skill drills and game situations to allow each player to showcase their abilities.

Please note that competition for roster spots will be intense, and tough decisions are inevitable.

Evaluation Criteria

Players will be assessed by the head coach and independent evaluators on:

  1. Hockey Skills & Game Intelligence
  2. Work Ethic
  3. Attitude,
  4. Coachability
  5. Player Conduct

Evaluation begins the moment players enter the facility. While we strive to monitor all areas, please remember that players are expected to always adhere to the BMHA Code of Conduct. Any concerns brought to our attention will be reported directly and delt with by the BMHA Director of Risk Management.


Commitment Expectations

As a representative “AA” athlete, your child should plan for 3–5 on‑ice and team activities per week on average. Attendance at practices, games, and team events is mandatory. We will be seeking parental support win the following areas:

  • Fundraising initiatives
  • Video recording of games
  • Volunteering for team needs

Tournaments

We will participate in at least four tournaments, including:

  • Barrie Georgian Communities Tournament: January 7–9, 2026
  • Three additional tournaments to be announced shortly after tryouts. ** No USA or Abroad tournaments**

Coaching Staff – I’m pleased to share that this year’s U15 AA team will be led entirely by non‑parent coaches. Each member of our coaching staff brings a strong hockey background and is fully committed to the team’s success. We are dedicated to delivering comprehensive support —both on the ice and behind the scenes—to ensure our players have the resources and guidance they need to excel.
