Dear parents and players,
I would like to welcome all players and parents to this year's Barrie Colts U16 ‘AA’ team tryouts. This letter is to inform everyone involved about the tryout process and to briefly describe some of the goals and expectations of playing for the Barrie Colts U16 ‘AA' team in 2024/2025.
If you have not already done so, please take the time to read the articles posted on the BMHA website regarding the tryout process and the association expectations.
Tryouts:
There are 17 spots available on this team - 9 forwards, 6 defense and 2 goaltenders. I am looking for self-motivated, team-oriented, positive players that are ready for a challenge and prepared to work hard in the pursuit of both individual and team goals. All players will be given equal consideration during the tryout process. There are multiple sessions scheduled in order to evaluate potential team members – all players will be given opportunities in both skill-based and game-based situations to demonstrate their abilities before selections are made.
I'm sure you can appreciate and I'm hoping that everyone understands that this year’s tryout process will be extremely competitive and there will be numerous tough decisions to be made.

2. Work ethic / focus on task
3. Attitude and behaviour / ability to follow instructions / coachability
Evaluators will be doing individual assessments during each ice time, and will NOT discuss any results with anyone outside of these individuals.
Rep. Level Commitment:
Being part of a competitive team takes commitment. Players selected to be part of this team can expect to be at the rink 3-5 sessions per week on average. Practices, games and team events are not considered voluntary. The goal of building a strong sense of team relies on a buy-in from parents and players to be at the rink on time and ready to play. Other activities that will require effort on the part of players and parents for a successful season include: -fundraising -off ice events (dry-land & team building, parties) -volunteering to assist where there is a need.
Tournaments:
The team will be participating in the following tournament and three more.
• January 7-9 - Barrie Georgian Communities
.
I wish all players the very best and look forward to seeing all players demonstrate their skills and give it their best effort in the tryout process.
Sincerely,
Rudy Huften
