About Me
With over 15 years of coaching experience, I’ve dedicated much of my life to the game I love. Born and raised in Barrie, I proudly played for the BMHA until the age of 17 and later contributed as a referee within the same organization.
Throughout my coaching career, I’ve had the privilege of leading teams from U9 through U14, reaching the OMHAs every single year, a testament to the consistent effort and development of the players and coaches that I’ve worked with. Highlights include winning the OMHA Red Hat Finals with the U12 BB team in 2023 and again with the U14 BB team in 2025.
Coaching Philosophy
My goal as a coach goes beyond wins and standings, I’m here to help shape confident, disciplined, and resilient young athletes who carry those traits with them both on and off the ice.
I believe in building a team culture rooted in accountability, respect, and relentless effort. Every player brings value to the team, and every role is vital to our success.
I focus heavily on strong fundamentals, hockey IQ, and team-first play, creating a structured environment that still allows for creativity and smart decision-making. My coaching style is high-energy and purposeful; designed to challenge players while fostering a deep love for the game.

What We're Looking For:
Throughout tryouts, we’ll be evaluating players on a mix of skills and character traits that contribute to both individual performance and team success:
1. Skating – Speed, edge work, agility, and balance
2. Puck Skills – Handling, passing, and shooting precision
3. Hockey IQ – Smart positioning, quick decisions, and game awareness
4. Work Ethic – Consistent effort, strong attitude, and competitiveness
5. Coachability – Willingness to listen, learn, and adapt
6. Team Play – Communication, supportiveness, and understanding of systems
Raw talent matters—but just as important to us are hustle, positivity, and being a great teammate. We want to see players who lead with effort, respect others, and bring energy every shift.
Tryout #1
Wednesday, May 14, 2025 – Two Ice Sessions**
o Session #1: 8:00 PM @ East Bayfield Arena
o Session #2: 8:50 PM @ East Bayfield Arena
**Note – You will receive an email on which session to attend.
After the tryout, players will have one of the following three outcomes by 10:30 AM the next day:
1.Receive an Offer of Commitment email from the coach, which will include a private link to team registration.
2.Receive a Release email automatically generated by the website.
o If your player receives a release email, their IPC number will no longer appear on the team webpage. They will automatically be added to the next eligible team tryout, and their IPC code will remain the same.
3. If your player's IPC number remains listed on the team webpage, they are invited to participate in the scrimmage held during Tryout #2.

A Few Quick Tryout Reminders:
o Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your ice time to receive your pinnie
o Pinnies must be returned after each skate
o Team selection updates will be posted on our team website. This is a new system, so thanks for your patience as we roll it out.
We know tryouts can be stressful, and our goal is to provide a fair, supportive environment where every player has the opportunity to shine. Focus on what you can control—your effort, your attitude, and your teamwork—and you’ll be in a great position to stand out.

o Jersey and Apparel Fitting – May 28, 2025, St. Joseph's Highschool
o Picture Day - September 2, 2025, Schedule TBA
o Team building events/conditioning throughout the summer
o Team meeting within 7 days of roster selection. Date TBA
