These kids have played so hard all season,
they worked as a team and grew stronger as the season went on. And that was showcased this past weekend
where the kids took home Silver at their first ever #REDHATS experience.
Starting the weekend we had a loss right
out of the gate, and although this put us in a sticky situation, these kids do
what they do best… RALLY. Sure there was
disappointment on their faces, but they knew, if they wanted to make it to the
final dance they had to work as a team, and that is exactly what they did. Winning our next two games put us in a
position to face the mighty Burlington who we knew would be the toughest
match. And although I would love to
comment on how the game went down, I
spent the whole game avoiding watching as my nerves got the best of me… we won! This win did the unthinkable, it gave these
kids the confidence to charge on.
Championship game we faced Hespler again in
a rematch of our first loss of the tournament, and although we came up short in
the end, I was impressed by how the kids carried themselves down to the buzzer. Its hard giving up a game with that big of a margin
and not lose your cool, but these kids kept playing, stayed classy and never
gave up.
This is a true testament of the whole
season.
As I say goodbye to the 2023/24 season, I am
filled with all the emotions. Happy,
that we have spent 7 months surrounded by a core group of good families,
raising really good kids. Sad, that it has come to an end, and knowing it won’t
ever be quite the same. Hopeful, that next year they will be even stronger, and
most of all blessed. We have created
some of the most wholesome core memories this season.
Farewell my 2023/24 U10AA’s, enjoy your
rest, good luck at Tryouts and most of all THANK YOU.
