Novice A Colts come close at Hespeler Tournament
The Barrie Colts Novice A team ended 2017 with a strong performance at the Hespeler Olympics Tournament.
The Colts finished the round-robin portion of the tournament with a record of 1-1-1, putting them in third place.
Barrie then played the Southpoint Capitals in the semi-final, the same team the Colts lost to in round-robin play. The game ended 1-1 after three periods and overtime was needed. No team scored during the 4-on-4 period so it went to double overtime, where the Colts were able to score during 3-on-3.
The Colts then moved on to the finals against the home team, the Hespeler Shamrocks. Barrie started off strong and were up 3-1 after two periods but Hespeler fought back to force overtime. It was an exciting period of 4-on-4 but the Shamrocks were able to get the game winning goal on a power play.
The boys played their best during the three day tournament and represented Barrie well both on and off the ice.
The Novice A Colts will now finish up their regular season in January and start preparing for the playoffs.
