Minor Bantam, 2017-2018, A (Barrie Minor Hockey)

Well they’ve done it again……  Since the 22nd of September, the Minor Bantam A has battled hard and won 3 out of 3 tournaments.  This teams regular season record and tournament wins speaks volumes to each players tenacity.

After a 3-1 victory against the Aurora Tigers, the Barrie Colts Minor Bantam A team toured the York Regional Police SWAT team headquarters. The players learned the similarities in the selection process of a competitive hockey team and the specialty police unit, but most importantly the value of team work. The tour lasted approximately 1 hour and included the deployment of tactical robotics and weapon displays.    

Barrie Colts Minor Bantam A team takes home another Championship win. While the first cross boarder win was sweet, the taste of a Canadian victory was that much better.  The team aggressively battled the competition to secure the 1st place spot in the finals and delivered the win against the host team, Cumberland Jr Grads. A huge shout out to the players who battled through all 5 games, the coaching staff and the parents for their unwavering support through the tournament. 

Barrie Colts Minor Bantam A team wins the Rock and Roll Cleveland Ohio Tournament. After a tough battle with the Cleveland Sharks, the Colts pulled off a shutout, winning the game 3-0 in the championship final.   While the Colts were ultimately victorious, this tournament was especially challenging due to the fact their opponents were a strong mix of 03’s and 04’s AA teams.  A huge congratulations to the team and coaching staff for their accomplishment. This win has been attributed to team work and competitive drive shared by each player.
