Glenn Bellerby Tournament Champs!!
Congratulations to the TNR Doors Barrie Colts Minor Bantam AA team who rang in the new year with 6 straight wins, to lock down the championship in the Glenn Bellerby Memorial Tournament!
Two strong performances on the opening day of the tournament, 6-0 over the Whitby Wildcats and 6-1 over the Niagara Falls Flyers, made for a strong start to the weekend. The team followed up Friday's effort with 2 shutout wins on Saturday, 4-0 over both the Nickel City Jr. Sons and the Mississauga Terriers, to lock in 1st place in their pool!
They faced some strong competition on Sunday morning in the semi-final game vs the Sault Reps, but hung on for a 4-3 win and a berth in the Championship game against the highly ranked Toronto Shamrocks. The boys played some of their best hockey of the year in the final game, as they worked hard to be defensively responsible and capitalize on their chances to ultimately win the game 4-2!
Solid netminding, that allowed only 6 goals against in 6 games over the weekend, consistent defence, and a hungry offence that scored 28 goals, were the keys to the team's success.
Our sincere thanks to the BMHA staff and many volunteers, who worked tirelessly over the weekend to provide such a well-run tournament. The TNR Doors Minor Bantam AA Team was proud to represent the BMHA and the City of Barrie. Best of luck boys next week in the Silverstick Finals in Newmarket!
